Ughelli, Delta State — In a surprising show of political synergy, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District has officially endorsed the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The high-profile endorsement was announced at a well-attended Unity Meeting held in Ughelli on Sunday, drawing stakeholders from all tiers of government — federal, state, and local. Party leaders hailed both Tinubu and Oborevwori for what they described as impactful governance, decisive leadership, and a convergence of political vision.
The motion to adopt the duo as “sole candidates” for the presidency and governorship in 2027 was moved by Hon. Francis Waive, the lawmaker representing Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. Waive credited Tinubu’s economic reforms and Oborevwori’s developmental strides as justification for their continued leadership.
His motion was promptly seconded by former federal legislator Hon. Halims Agoda and put to a voice vote by Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), which was met with thunderous approval.
A resounding vote of confidence was also passed in support of both leaders by the attendees, which included a broad spectrum of Delta’s political elite — National Assembly members, state legislators, commissioners, local government chairpersons, federal appointees, and other top political figures.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, described the gathering as “unprecedented in the political history of Delta Central.” According to him, the level of unity seen among the Urhobo people and the APC family is unlike anything since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
“For the first time, I am betting everything I have — Delta State will deliver 100% for APC,” Keyamo declared confidently. He also highlighted the alignment between President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, calling it a strategic partnership for accelerated development in Delta.
“This is not just another political gathering; this is the Ukodo base. Delta Central is setting the pace, and no other district should have taken this initiative from us,” Keyamo added.
APC Delta Central Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, praised Oborevwori’s willingness to work across party lines, saying it has “reshaped the political landscape of Delta.” He described the day as one of “vision, unity, and collective purpose.”
Similarly, Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, hailed the meeting as a tactical consolidation of the party’s grassroots structure in preparation for 2027. He emphasized the importance of replicating the Unity Meeting across all eight local government areas in Delta Central.
Prominent figures at the meeting included 2015 APC governorship candidate Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; NEXIM Bank Executive Director, Chief Stella Okotete; Chief Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Senator Ighoyota Amori; and Ughelli North LGA Chairman, Chief Jaro Egbo. All reiterated their commitment to the party’s mission and called for continued mobilization at the ward and unit levels.
With political momentum now firmly behind Tinubu and Oborevwori in Delta Central, the APC appears poised for a formidable showing in the 2027 elections.
