The Florida Panthers have written themselves into National Hockey League (NHL) history once again, securing their second consecutive Stanley Cup title after a commanding 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the finals.
Led by a stunning four-goal performance from forward Sam Reinhart and solid goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky, the Panthers sealed the best-of-seven series 4-2 in front of a jubilant home crowd.
“It’s a dream come true, and to win that trophy twice—it’s amazing,” said Bobrovsky, who turned away 28 shots to help Florida clinch the win.
With this latest triumph, the Panthers become the first team since the Tampa Bay Lightning (2020–2021) to claim back-to-back NHL championships. Florida also becomes just the eighth franchise in league history to lift the Stanley Cup on home ice in two consecutive seasons.
Tuesday’s result also marked a repeat of last year’s final, where Florida narrowly overcame Edmonton in seven games. This time, the Panthers left little to chance, dominating the closing matches to deny the Canadian side a long-awaited title.
Notably, no Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993—a 32-year drought that continues despite strong performances from teams like the Oilers.

“It’s incredible,” said Florida’s Brad Marchand after the win. “Words can’t really explain what this means to us. This group is special.”
For Edmonton, who were aiming for a sixth overall title, the wait for championship glory continues. Their last cup win came in 1990, during the peak of the franchise’s golden era.
Florida’s back-to-back triumphs also mark the first time since Montreal’s 1977–1978 runs that a team has beaten the same opponent in consecutive finals—further cementing the Panthers' growing legacy in modern hockey.
