Celebrity couple Justin and Hailey Bieber are no strangers to headlines, but this time, it’s Hailey who’s owning the moment — with a clapback that’s got fans across the globe, especially Gen Z, cheering.

The couple, who became new parents last August when they welcomed baby Jack Blues into their family, have had their parenting journey closely followed by fans. But things got awkward last month when Justin’s Mother’s Day post left fans raising eyebrows — and not in a good way.

Rather than celebrating Hailey’s first Mother’s Day with grace, the “Baby” singer took to Instagram Notes on May 11 to declare: “Love u moms but mothers day sucks ass.” He doubled down by screenshotting the message for his massive 294 million followers and even added another post saying: “Good luck today for anyone navigating Mother’s Day.”

Fans didn’t find it funny. Instead, they found it cold — especially toward Hailey. Social media lit up with criticism, with one viral post labeling the move “vile.” Though Justin later tried to smooth things over with tributes to Hailey, including a mariachi band surprise and affectionate photos, the damage had been done. Many felt the apology was reactive, not sincere.

Fast forward to Father’s Day — and Hailey came with receipts and attitude.

When Justin posted a tough-guy selfie with the caption: “I’m a dad that’s not to be f**ed with,”* Hailey didn’t miss a beat. She jumped into the comments with a cheeky echo of Justin’s Mother’s Day blunder: “Father’s Day sucks ass.”

Boom. Mic drop.

The internet erupted. A viral tweet showing both Justin’s original message and Hailey’s clapback simply read: “Hailey got her lick back .” It racked up over 9 million views within 24 hours, with fans lauding her timing, her humour, and her boldness.

“OK i love her,” one person tweeted. “She’s so unserious I love her,” another fan added, vibing with Hailey’s unbothered energy.

And no — despite rumors — Hailey’s comment hadn’t been deleted. As of this report, it’s still sitting pretty under Justin’s post, 17 hours strong.

Interestingly, Hailey didn’t post anything about Father’s Day on her personal page — a quiet power move? Possibly. But Justin doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge. He later posted adorable pictures of Hailey and baby Jack playing piano, and shared a dolphin mid-jump with the caption: “How I feel when @haileybieber gets home.”

To top it off, the couple went on a “date night getaway,” with Justin flaunting a shiny new gold watch and the caption: “Happy daddy day to me u lil ho.”

At this rate, the Biebers may be writing the rulebook for petty love in the digital age — and fans can’t get enough
