Liverpool’s long-serving second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is set for a move to Brentford in a deal worth up to £18 million, WafricNews can confirm.

The initial fee is believed to be £12.5 million, with performance-related add-ons pushing the total value closer to £18 million. The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international will replace Mark Flekken, who is finalizing a transfer to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for around £8 million.

Kelleher leaves Anfield after spending more than a decade at the club, having made 25 Premier League appearances and featured in over 40 cup matches since his debut. Though often in the shadow of Brazil's Alisson Becker, Kelleher was a trusted hand in domestic cup competitions.

During his time at Liverpool, he collected an impressive haul of silverware: two Premier League titles, a Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, and a UEFA Super Cup.

His departure clears the way for Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is expected to join Liverpool in July and compete with Alisson for the number one spot.

Meanwhile, Flekken’s move to Germany marks the end of a solid stint at Brentford. The 31-year-old Dutch international joined the Bees in 2023 from Freiburg for £11 million. Known for his reliability, he kept 14 clean sheets and even registered three assists during his time in the Premier League.

Kelleher’s move signals a new chapter for both clubs — Brentford gain a talented, title-tested keeper, while Liverpool refresh their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2025/26 season.
