Lady Gaga returned to the Coachella main stage Friday night with the flair and resilience fans have come to expect — even when faced with technical difficulties.

Performing during the second weekend of the California mega-festival, the superstar launched into her high-energy set with “Abracadabra,” the latest single off her new album Mayhem. But moments into the performance, her head mic cut out. Unfazed, Gaga swiftly switched to a handheld microphone before being refitted with a new head mic, never missing a beat.

Later in the show, seated at her piano, Gaga addressed the hiccup: “I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live!” The crowd erupted in applause as she added, “I guess all we can do is our best — and I’m certainly giving you my best tonight.”

“Abracadabra” is the second single from Mayhem, Gaga’s seventh solo studio album, released last month. Its lead single, “Disease,” debuted last fall.

Gaga also used March to unveil her upcoming Mayhem Ball tour, which kicks off July 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The tour will hit major cities including Seattle, New York, Miami, Chicago, and Toronto before heading to Europe in September. Additional international shows are scheduled for April and May in Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore.

Even with a mic glitch, Gaga proved once again that the show — and the talent — must go on.
