Authorities in Ohio have arrested a man accused of threatening U.S. Congressman Max Miller during a disturbing road incident that allegedly included death threats, hate speech, and a near-collision on a local freeway.

Feras S. Hamdan, 36, turned himself in to police after the Republican lawmaker from Ohio filed a criminal complaint and requested a protective order. According to the Rocky River Police Department, Hamdan is facing charges of aggravated menacing.

The confrontation occurred on Thursday morning while Rep. Miller was driving to work. In a 911 call later released to the public, Miller described a man in a Tesla aggressively cutting him off in traffic while holding a Palestinian flag and shouting threats.

“I have somebody who cut me off, flipping me off, holding up a Palestinian flag, and yelling to kill me,” Miller told emergency dispatchers, audibly shaken during the call. He added that his wife and young daughter had been threatened during the encounter.

The congressman claimed the man rolled down his window and yelled anti-Semitic slurs, saying, “I’m going to cut your throat and your daughter’s. I know who you are and where you live.”

Miller told dispatchers he was carrying a firearm at the time of the incident but chose not to use it. “I’m glad I didn’t,” he said. “But this man clearly tried to hurt me.”

The Rocky River Police have launched a joint investigation into the case with the U.S. Capitol Police, who have dispatched investigators to Ohio to assist. Capitol Police declined to comment further, citing ongoing safety concerns.

Hamdan, who was accompanied by his attorney during his surrender, is awaiting a court appearance. CNN and other outlets report attempts to reach his legal counsel for comment have been unsuccessful.

Rep. Miller, a first-term member of Congress and vocal supporter of Israel, has not released an official public statement beyond the emergency calls. His office has not responded to follow-up inquiries.

The incident adds to growing concerns in the United States over politically and religiously motivated threats targeting elected officials.
