Oluwatimileyin Ajayi Sentenced to Death for Murder of NYSC Member Salome Adaidu

LAFIA – A High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of killing and dismembering the young corps member, whose death sparked outrage and sorrow across the country.
Ajayi faced a single charge of culpable homicide, brought under Section 221 of the Penal Code applicable in Northern Nigeria — an offence that carries the ultimate penalty of death.
According to court records, the prosecution presented overwhelming evidence linking Ajayi to the crime, which the judge described as “gruesome and calculated.”
The judgment brings an end to months of legal proceedings following Adaidu’s tragic death, which drew national attention and calls for stronger security measures for youth corps members posted across Nigeria.
