Lahore - Pakistan stormed to a 3-0 series whitewash over Bangladesh in Lahore on Sunday night, with an explosive century from Mohammad Haris lighting up Gaddafi Stadium in the third and final T20I.
Chasing a challenging 197, Haris unleashed a blistering 107 off just 46 balls, guiding the home side to a dominant seven-wicket win with 16 balls remaining. His match-winning knock, laced with seven towering sixes and eight boundaries, silenced any hope of a Bangladeshi comeback and earned him the Player of the Match award.
A Composed Start, a Ferocious Finish
Pakistan, electing to chase yet again, were dealt an early blow when Sahibzada Farhan—star of the second T20—fell in the opening over to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. But the loss didn’t rattle the new-look Pakistan side under captain Salman Agha and coach Mike Hesson.
What followed was a measured yet aggressive 92-run stand between Haris and Saim Ayub, who scored a brisk 45 off 29 balls. After Ayub’s dismissal in the 10th over, Haris took center stage, shifting gears effortlessly and dispatching the Bangladeshi bowlers to all corners of the ground.
“I just kept it simple—see ball, hit ball,” Haris said post-match. “I’ve had a rough patch, but I didn’t want to waste this chance.”
Bangladesh Falter After Bright Start
Earlier, Bangladesh had posted a respectable 196-6 after electing to bat first. Openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan launched a fierce assault, racing to 110 without loss. But their momentum stalled after Tanzid’s dismissal in the 11th over.
Skipper Litton Das (22) and Towhid Hridoy (25) offered brief resistance, but Pakistan’s bowlers tightened the screws in the death overs. The visitors struggled to find boundaries late on, finishing below the 200-mark despite their promising start.
A Confident Pakistan Eyes Bigger Tests
Captain Salman Agha praised his team’s composed chase, saying the decision to bowl first was a deliberate test of character.
“We wanted to challenge ourselves, even if that meant playing under pressure,” he told reporters. “This team is building confidence match by match.”
The emphatic win in Lahore caps off a clean sweep and serves as a statement of intent for a Pakistani side in transition. With new leadership and fresh energy, the team appears determined to build a consistent white-ball identity ahead of upcoming global tournaments.
WafricNews will continue to follow Pakistan’s preparations as they set their sights on stiffer international challenges in the months ahead.
