Nigerian hitmaker Pheelz has once again made history on the global stage as his breakout single Finesse, featuring BNXN (formerly Buju), has officially been certified platinum in France.
The award, issued by France’s official music certification body SNEP, marks a major milestone for Afrobeats, which continues to break boundaries and captivate listeners far beyond the continent.
Originally released in 2022, Finesse took the world by storm after going viral on TikTok. With its infectious hook, smooth mid-tempo beat, and blend of English and Pidgin, the track became a cultural anthem, echoing the YOLO mantra — “If I broke, na my business.”
Now, with over 30 million streams in France alone, Finesse has earned the platinum seal, becoming Pheelz’s first single to reach this level in the French market. It previously bagged a gold certification and has also achieved platinum status in both Canada and the United States.
The song was a defining sound of 2022, dominating Nigerian airwaves and international playlists alike. It was also a standout track on Pheelz’s Pheelz Good EP, which was ranked among Pulse Nigeria’s Top 10 EPs of 2023.
Finesse now joins the ranks of other Nigerian Afrobeats powerhouses whose songs have gone platinum in France, including Rema (Charm, Dumebi, Soundgasm), Burna Boy (Gbona, City Boy), and Omah Lay (Soso).
For Pheelz, who began his career as a producer before stepping fully into the spotlight as an artist, the success of Finesse marks a full-circle moment — and proof of Afrobeats' ever-expanding global influence.
From Lagos to Paris, Pheelz is living proof that African sound travels — and the world is still listening.
