President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday made a compassionate stop at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi, where survivors of the recent brutal attack in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, are currently receiving treatment.

The assault, carried out last Friday by suspected armed herders, left more than 100 people dead, sending shockwaves across the nation and prompting urgent calls for action.

Touching down at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi around 12:58 p.m., President Tinubu arrived on a condolence mission to the grief-stricken state. He was warmly received by a delegation that included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

Also present to welcome the president were Senate Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, members of the National Assembly representing Benue, as well as governors from the North Central zone, federal ministers, and other top government officials.

During his visit, President Tinubu interacted with the injured and hospital staff, expressing sorrow over the tragedy and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity in the region.
