Prince George turned heads at this year’s Trooping the Colour with a striking new haircut that had royal watchers buzzing about how grown-up the young royal now looks.

The 11-year-old heir to the British throne joined his mother, the Princess of Wales, and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, during the monarch’s annual birthday parade on June 14. But it wasn’t just the pageantry that drew attention — George stepped out with a noticeably shorter haircut, a clean, cropped style that gave him an even more mature appearance.

The prince, who usually wears his hair longer and brushed back, opted this time for a sharper look, still parted at the side, but neater and more defined — a subtle shift that many say mirrors the style of his father, Prince William, whom he closely resembles.

As George approaches his 12th birthday in July, royal insiders say he’s beginning to be slowly ushered into his future role. “William and Kate are striking a balance,” a royal source told People. “They want George to have a normal upbringing, but they’re also letting him get a feel for what being a future monarch means.”

Prince William once told the BBC, “There will be a time and place to bring George up to understand how he fits into the world, but for now, we’re focused on a secure, stable family life.”

And yet, his presence at high-profile events like Trooping the Colour suggests the royal family is gradually introducing him to public duty. George, Charlotte, and Louis were seen waving from a carriage beside their mother, Kate Middleton, who made her return to public life following news of her remission. Prince William, meanwhile, participated on horseback.

The royal family embraced a coordinated blue colour palette for the occasion. The Princess of Wales wore a refined aquamarine Catherine Walker coatdress, paired with Queen Elizabeth’s pearl earrings and a nod to Princess Diana through her hat design. Charlotte wore a soft blue dress that matched her mother, while George and Louis looked dapper in matching navy suits with red ties.

As always, Prince George’s subtle transformation did not go unnoticed — a reminder that the future king is growing before the public’s eyes, one royal appearance at a time.
