British pop legend Robbie Williams has officially joined the FIFA family as the global football body’s first-ever Music Ambassador, a role that kicks off with the release of a brand-new anthem titled “Desire.”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino made the announcement via a video call with the multi-award-winning singer, unveiling a partnership that aims to fuse the worlds of music and football on the biggest stages of the sport. As part of his ambassadorial debut, Williams co-wrote and recorded the high-energy anthem "Desire" alongside his longtime collaborators Karl Brazil, Owen Parker, and Erik Jan Grob.

The anthem is set to debut June 14, 2025, at the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States — the largest edition of the tournament yet.

“Football and music bring people together like nothing else. They both speak a universal language,” said Williams. “I’ve grown up watching football, listening to those anthems during team walkouts — and now I get to create one. This is a dream.”

In what promises to be an emotional and cinematic soundscape, "Desire" captures the adrenaline, pride, and intensity of the game. Williams also revealed that the track features a powerful guest appearance from Italian icon Laura Pausini, calling her the “perfect voice” to complete the composition.

“It’s a real honour that Laura accepted my invitation. Performing this song at my favourite tournaments in the years ahead is something I’m truly looking forward to.”

President Infantino echoed the excitement, describing the anthem as a “fantastic, emotional, and brilliant” addition to the FIFA experience.

“With Robbie Williams and Laura Pausini coming together, ‘Desire’ is now football’s global soundtrack,” Infantino said. “It will electrify fans and set the tone as we enter a new era for FIFA competitions.”

The anthem will not only serve as the official theme for the 2025 Club World Cup, but will also echo through future FIFA tournaments — including the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

This marks another chapter in Williams’ relationship with the sport. Known for his love of football and his successful Soccer Aid initiative — which has raised millions for UNICEF — the singer’s new FIFA role brings together his passion for music and the beautiful game on a truly global stage.

As FIFA gears up to merge music with football in unprecedented ways, fans can expect “Desire” to become a unifying anthem heard from stadiums to screens around the world.
