Russia launched a massive aerial assault on Ukraine early Tuesday, deploying over 300 drones and seven missiles, including two believed to be of North Korean origin. The attacks targeted Kyiv and Odesa, resulting in at least three fatalities and numerous injuries. In Kyiv, strikes affected seven districts, causing fires and significant damage to residential areas. Odesa's maternity hospital was among the facilities hit, though it had been evacuated in time. Ukraine's air defenses intercepted over 200 drones and all incoming missiles, but some managed to evade detection. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the assault and called for "concrete action" from Western allies to counter Russian aggression.

Prisoner Exchange Continues Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Despite the escalation in hostilities, Ukraine and Russia have proceeded with a prisoner exchange. On Tuesday, Ukraine brought home a group of seriously wounded soldiers from Russian captivity, marking the first phase of a broader agreement. President Zelensky emphasized the humanitarian significance of the operation, highlighting the need for continued efforts to secure the release of all detained personnel.

Diplomatic Efforts Stall as Military Actions Intensify

Recent peace talks in Turkey yielded limited progress, with both sides agreeing to a prisoner swap but failing to reach a consensus on a ceasefire. Russia has rejected calls for an unconditional truce, citing concerns over potential Ukrainian rearmament. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have intensified their counteroffensive, targeting Russian military infrastructure. The conflict continues to escalate, with both nations engaging in reciprocal strikes and diplomatic negotiations remaining at an impasse.
