London, UK – British pop star Jessie J has publicly revealed that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, sharing the news with fans in an emotional and candid message on social media.

The 37-year-old singer, best known for hits like Price Tag and Domino, made the announcement on Instagram, explaining that she will undergo surgery following her performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium later this month.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early,’” she said in a heartfelt video. “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job,” she added with humour, offering a glimpse of her resilience even in the face of serious health concerns.

Jessie J, who has been undergoing medical tests in recent weeks, said she plans to take a short break from public life after the event to focus on her recovery. “I’m going to disappear for a bit, have my surgery, and come back with massive boobs and more music,” she joked, trying to keep spirits high.

‘I Need a Hug’: Going Public to Heal and Support Others

Jessie J said one of the reasons she chose to go public with her diagnosis was to help herself process the news and to stand in solidarity with others facing similar battles.

“I just wanted to be open and share it,” she said. “I know how much sharing has helped me in the past – hearing from others, receiving support, and telling my truth.”

She acknowledged that many people are dealing with even more difficult health challenges and admitted that opening up has been emotionally taxing. “It breaks my heart that so many are going through worse. That’s the part that kills me.”

The singer, who gave birth to her first child in 2023, said the experience has given her a “new perspective” and reminded her of the value of love, health, and human connection. “Honestly, I need to talk about it, process it… and I need a hug,” she told her followers.

Fans and fellow celebrities flooded the comment section with messages of love and support, including broadcaster Gaby Roslin, who sent Jessie “so much love and enormous hugs.”

A Life Marked by Resilience

Jessie J’s health journey has been marked by numerous challenges. Diagnosed with a heart condition as a child, she suffered a stroke as a teenager and experienced temporary hearing loss in 2020 due to Meniere’s disease. In 2023, she also revealed she had been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD.

Her honesty about her physical and mental health struggles has made her a relatable figure to many, particularly young people navigating similar issues.

A Reminder on Breast Health

Jessie J’s announcement has sparked renewed conversations about breast cancer awareness. In the UK, breast cancer remains the most common form of cancer among women.

According to the NHS, regularly checking your breasts and being aware of any changes in their size, shape, or texture can be key to early detection.
