Borno State, Nigeria – Security forces under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized 10 Boko Haram terrorists during a recent offensive in a border enclave between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, close to the Nigerian-Cameroon frontier. The clearance operation is part of ongoing military efforts to restore peace in the volatile Southern Lake Chad region.
In a statement from Maiduguri, the theater commander of the North-East Joint Task Force, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed that troops clashed with terrorists in the border community of Manawaji, recovering significant weaponry, including anti-aircraft ammunition and other ordinance.
The recovered munitions are believed to have been stolen from an earlier Boko Haram attack on the Cameroon Defense Forces, underscoring the group’s cross-border threat.
“Our troops are intensifying clearance operations to secure border communities in the Southern Lake Chad area,” General Abubakar said. “During the operation at Manawaji, our forces engaged terrorists, neutralizing ten and recovering several weapons including anti-aircraft ammunition.”
Ngala, located about 154 kilometers from Maiduguri, and Rann, the headquarters of Kalabalge Local Government Area some 183 kilometers away, remain strategic points along the Lake Chad border region where military operations continue.
The commander praised the resilience and bravery of the troops, noting that recent deployments of new fighting equipment have boosted morale. He vowed that the operation would persist “until the last terrorist is neutralized” in the region.
