South African sensation Tyla has thrilled fans with the confirmation of an upcoming collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats icon Wizkid — a musical pairing that has already set social media buzzing across the continent.

The Grammy-winning singer shared the news during a casual interaction with a fan on X (formerly Twitter) who inquired about Wizkid’s involvement in an unreleased track. Tyla responded with excitement, confirming not only his feature but also giving a glimpse into how the track came to life.

“Yess, made the song in 2022, freestyled a melody in his hotel room. Me korey prime n vibesss,” she wrote.

The yet-to-be-released track marks the first collaboration between the two award-winning African stars — both recognized globally for pushing the sound and soul of African music onto international stages.

Interestingly, the song was recorded before Tyla’s meteoric rise to global fame with the smash hit ‘Water’ in mid-2023. Since then, she has rapidly become one of the continent’s leading musical exports.

This isn’t Tyla’s first connection to Nigerian music royalty. She previously teamed up with Ayra Starr on ‘Girl Next Door’ (May 2023), Tems on ‘No 1’ from her debut album, and joined Omah Lay on DJ Spinall’s ‘One Call’. But the Wizkid collaboration holds special meaning, as Tyla has publicly named him among the artists she looks up to.

Although a release date hasn’t been set, fans can expect the track to be her second single of 2025, following the May release of ‘Bliss’.

Tyla continues to enjoy a standout year, having recently won the American Music Award (AMA) for Best Afrobeats Artist — adding to her growing collection of international accolades from 2024.
