Los Angeles — Keith David, the regal-voiced screen legend with nearly five decades of stellar performance under his belt, has been chosen to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year — and the moment of revelation left him stunned.
In a heartwarming social media clip, the 69-year-old icon of stage and screen, famed for his powerful baritone and commanding presence, is captured in sheer disbelief as his name is announced. Keith David’s jaw literally dropped, then he clasped a hand over his mouth, eyes brimming with emotion while cheers erupted around him.
His wife, fighting back tears, chimed in with, “Happy 70th Birthday,” before stepping in to embrace the visibly moved actor. David wiped away tears and expressed gratitude, acknowledging that his wife may have been the one to put forward his nomination for the prestigious star.
“This is enough for me, being blessed to work in this industry,” he later wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “To be recognized for my contribution to the arts is the cherry on top.”
The Hollywood Chamber’s Walk of Fame Selection Committee and Board of Directors reserve the star honor for artists with exceptional talent, longevity, and achievement. David, with roughly 400 film and television credits, easily qualifies. From voicing Disney’s The Princess and the Frog to acting in Armageddon, Platoon, The Thing, and even more recent roles like Jordan Peele’s American Fiction, the veteran star’s portfolio is a testament to versatility and greatness.
His narration work is equally revered, partnering with acclaimed documentarian Ken Burns for projects including Jazz (2001), The War (2007), and Muhammad Ali (2021).
Keith David will join other celebrated names on the Hollywood landmark next year, including Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Franco Nero, and Molly Ringwald.
For David, the star will no doubt shine brightly as a symbol of a career marked by excellence, passion, and the ability to inspire countless fans across generations.
